ADVERTISING CAN BE BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH
In 2004 $11.26 billion was spent on candy, food, beverage, and restaurant advertising. Candy, sweets, soft drinks and convenience foods are by far the most frequently advertised, and about half of the commercials focused on snacking rather then meals. The government spent a mere $4.85 million promoting eating five or more daily servings of fruits and vegetables.
