GUM AND TOOTH DISEASE

As people get older, if they have not taken vitamins and have not brushed their teeth and gums correctly, they become susceptible to many types of gem disease.

One type of gum disease is receding gums, with the formation of pockets between the base of the tooth and the gum. The gums separating from the teeth form the pockets. The usual treatment is “flapping”. Cutting the gum in one quadrant, cleaning the lower part of the tooth or teeth. The gum is then sewn back together and sometimes it lasts for years and sometimes it does not.

By brushing the gums correctly and flossing or using an interdermal brush you can eliminate the pockets between gum and tooth.

The mouth is divided into four quadrants, upper left, upper right, lower right, and lower left. There are also the front teeth, upper and lower, inner and outer.  There is an inner and outer side to each quadrant. Start with any quadrant. For example the upper left quadrant, outer surface. Brush the gum where it meets the teeth. Brushing both the gum and the side of the teeth at the same time. While you are brushing think to yourself, ”EVERY DAY IN EVERY WAY MY TEETH AND MY GUMS ARE HEALTHIER AND HEALTHIER, AND MY POCKETS IN MY GUMS ARE SMALLER AND SMALLER.”

Brushing in this manner massages the gums and cleans the teeth. Thinking the phrase in your head is a way of contacting your subconscious and bringing about the things that you want. It also supplies the right amount of time you should brush your teeth.

After you have brushed your upper outer quadrant brush your inner quadrant in the same manner with the same phrase. Do each of the four quadrants in the same manner. Then brush the front teeth upper and lower in the same manner.

Suprisingly, according to a study on extracted teeth in the July 2004 issue of General Dentistry, the worst tooth enamel erosion is produced by noncola drinks, such as ginger ale, Mountain Dew, Sprite and bottled iced tea. Brewed black tea, brewed black coffee, and roost beet produced minimal erosion:

If you drink soda use a straw to help the acidic liquid bypass your teeth.

Chewing gum containing xylitol (Clen-Dent, XyliChew) a sweetener that reduces cavity-causing bacteria; or Trident White, which has a remineralizing agent that adds calcium and phosphate to the teeth.
